Even if leveled zero, auras still work.
For example, i have a full arachnid set with necro, and i can summon 2 skeletons, 2 mage sk. 1 golem, and i can can have bone vortex.
Maybe it's not a bug, in fact without at least auras, i think arachnid set would be just impossible to play
